The first thing you need to know is that this is no great work of ambient remixing. What it is, is the result of stretching our songs out to a nearly unfathomable speed, toying with the octaves a bit, and rendering it out.
Seeing as we were fairly loud most of the time (and that I was working with the final versions of the tracks), there's a large amount of cymbal wash and lack of definition to most of these sounds, but that was, in a way, the point; to hear how different these deliberately written songs would sound when casually expanded. An experiment. That said, I was excited to find that our abrasive moments created continual, resounding textures, while our softer moments now have the ability to float much farther out than we ever let them.
At the end of the diem, it was fun to put together, interesting to hear back, and will hopefully concoct some form of enjoyment or elitist completion for you, the dedicated! Who listened to all six and one half ridiculous hours in one sitting!
We posthumously appreciate the donation of your ears.
